When the Gums Recede
The insidious thing about periodontitis is its gradual onset. In the early stages, it generally does not hurt at all. The inflammation often develops unnoticed for months before the first drastic warning signs appear.
- •Bleeding Gums: A little blood on the toothbrush or when biting into an apple is a clear sign of stressed, inflamed tissue.
- •Visible Recession: The teeth suddenly appear visually longer and small, dark triangles form between the tooth and the gum line.
- •Loose Teeth: When the bacteria have already reached and attacked the supporting jawbone, visually intact teeth begin to loosen.
Such periodontitis unfortunately does not heal on its own. It requires systematic dental intervention to sustainably stop the bacterial cycle.

Gently Cleaning the Roots
In periodontitis, hard bacterial deposits have advanced far below the gum line (sometimes millimetres deep down the root neck). No home toothbrush can reach them down there.
In our periodontitis therapy, we reset these often deep gum pockets. For this, we use fine, vibrating ultrasonic devices and delicate hand instruments. These detach the inflammation-triggering bacteria and smooth the affected root surfaces with the highest precision. The goal: for healthy gum tissue to once again fit snugly against the clean tooth.

Why the Treatment Has a Dual Effect
Protection for Firm Teeth
The more consistently we treat the inflammation, the higher the probability that even severely loosened teeth can heal better in the jawbone.
Relief for the Immune System
The permanent, deep inflammation in the mouth places a heavy burden on your entire organism and often triggers cardiovascular diseases.
Fresh Breath
Bad breath (halitosis) is often triggered by putrefying bacteria in the deep gum pockets. Deep cleaning generally provides relief here.
Preventing Bone Loss
Without inflammation, your jawbone does not recede further. This significantly contributes to maintaining your facial profile and your smile.
Experiences of Our Patients
A Benefit for the Long Term
Systematically stopping a periodontal infection is the most important dental foundation. Every expensive inlay and every implant only makes long-term sense if the surrounding gum tissue is fundamentally healthy and inflammation-free.
Particularly in the early stages, periodontal treatment often saves healthy natural teeth from having to be removed from a loosened jawbone bed.
Does Insurance Cover This?
Periodontitis unfortunately does not activate self-healing powers, which is why intervention is considered a medical necessity.
- ✓Statutory health insurers generally cover the costs of closed periodontal therapy, provided the formal findings support this.
- ✓The preceding professional dental cleanings to first create a clean starting environment are usually billed privately.
Step by Step to Firm Gums
The Gum Check
With a hair-fine probe, we measure your so-called gum pockets to the millimetre to establish the findings.
Professional Pre-Cleaning
Before we address the deep inflammation, we first remove classical deposits such as tartar from all tooth surfaces.
The Deep Treatment
Under safe local anaesthesia, we extremely thoroughly remove all hard deposits and bacterial foci lying deep below the gum line.
Long-Term Aftercare (SPT)
Since periodontitis is a chronic disease, we then arrange regular short supportive periodontal therapy appointments.
Honest and Empathetic Guidance
Many patients have reservations about periodontitis treatment. We are very honest with you here: cleaning the tooth roots deep below the gum is an intensive procedure and requires significant tissue work. However, we do everything to make it as comfortable as possible for you. We work with safe, very effective local anaesthetics, so the therapy is largely low in discomfort for you. Instead of rough instruments, we use modern ultrasonic technology. You may feel the pressure and fine vibration of the instruments, but you will always be empathetically guided through the appointments.
Mehr zu unseren Comfort-Optionen →Many people focus heavily on the white crowns when smiling. But the most beautiful facade wobbles when the foundation weathers. Healthy gums are the most important insurance for every tooth.
